The Floating Realm

The Floating Realm draws from both Chinese and Japanese ceramic traditions, uniting structure and movement, earth and water. The vessel’s architectural form recalls ancient ritual containers of the Tang and Ming dynasties, while the flowing blue fish — painted in delicate cobalt — evokes the Japanese koi, symbol of perseverance, grace, and transformation.

The handles and lid, sculptural and geometric, create a dialogue between stillness and fluidity — a balance at the heart of both cultures’ aesthetics. The fish seems to drift between worlds, suspended in porcelain light, embodying the harmony of opposites: strength and gentleness, motion and calm, depth and reflection.
